Each of these, and many more, were locations where huge fights occurred during the post-Christmas shopping at malls across the country this week (video). These incidents ranged from minor commotions to mass evacuations. In either case, not knowing what was happening, if you were being prudent, you would have to assume the worse – a Mumbai style terrorist attack (video); a knife attack (video) or another active shooter situation (video).
What have you done to be prepared for any of these types of incidents and protect yourself and your family? What steps should you take to protect yourself? There are a few things you can do to put yourself ahead of the curve. They include:
Practice situational and environmental awareness. Remember the Awareness Color Code.
Have a safety/security plan and communicate it with your family.
Go armed all the time. Don’t just buy a gun and carry it. Get some real training. Live the lifestyle!
If not armed, consider other options – empty-hand self-defense, chemical weapons, etc.
Get some medical training. Not just CPR/First Aid but gunshot and blast trauma training.
